CEDAR FALLS – A multi-million dollar town hall project and a downtown zoning overhaul are expected to be discussed by Cedar Falls City Council on Tuesday (Monday was Labor Day).

At the Committee of the Whole meeting starting at 5:30 p.m., a presentation will be made on a proposed $ 4.6 million project for the redevelopment and reallocation of City Hall.

“In the initial analysis of the town hall remodel, we determined that the scope should go beyond a new mat,” according to a description of the capital improvement project provided in the meeting supplemental material. . “In order to provide the best customer service to our citizens, a relocation of various divisions and a reconstruction of the offices will be necessary. “

A schematic design services contract has been approved. If the scope of work and design are approved on time, construction could begin in November.

The total cost of the project is estimated at $ 4,576,787.
