Driver hospitalized as emergency services attend Plymouth home crash

A driver was hospitalized after a vehicle crash on Budshead Road in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed the incident happened at 12:06 am on Saturday amid unconfirmed reports of a chase followed by a ‘loud bang’ and damage to a house.

Video of the scene, taken by Leonardo Avanzato, shows police and firefighters both heading down Biggin Hill, where he meets Budshead Road.

Seven people contacted PlymouthLive in the early hours of the morning, both asking what was going on and saying they heard a loud noise.

Leonardo said: “Does anyone have a Scooby on what’s going on at the bottom of Biggin Hill where Lakeside and Uxbridge meet? I thought it was drug dealing until the fire department came.”

Local resident Paul Preston said a car crashed into the side of his mother’s house.

Mr Preston posted on social media: “A car crashed into the side of my mother’s house. Police were chasing the occupants of the car and walked through the grass and crashed into the house of my mother.

“I am very sad and upset at the moment.

“My mother is fine and the neighbors told me not to go back to my mother’s house.

“Of course, I’m going to be very upset and sad about the damage to my mom’s front room and her picture window.”

According to a subsequent message, Mr Preston was told by police that a police chase had ended as the car climbed onto a grassy edge and crashed into the picture window.

He added: “My mom doesn’t need this before Christmas and my neighbors have told me to go home and not worry and let the police and community homes in Plymouth do their job.”

The Devon and Cornwall Police Force Incident Manager said: “Single vehicle crash, driver taken to hospital. Report arrived at 12:06 am, occurred at Budshead Road.”

The FIM declined to provide further clarification.

The incident took place after an earlier accident that left Ford Hill stranded.
