Emergency services rush to the scene after a person is spotted at sea near Coral Island


Emergency services rushed to the scene after one person was spotted in the Blackpool Sea.

Lytham Coast Guard were called to the scene, across from Coral Island, at approximately 10:23 p.m. Wednesday, September 8.

They had received reports that a person was in the water probably in trouble.

Upon arrival, the person was in Blackpool Police custody and was exiting the beach.

They were then placed in the care of the North West Ambulance Service.

A spokesperson for Lytham Coastguard said: “We were then called at 10:23 pm tonight for reports of someone in the water in front of Coral Island, possibly in trouble.

“Just as we arrived at the scene the victim was luckily in the custody of Blackpool Police, leaving the beach. The victim was then taken to the care of the North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust for verification.

“The RNLI Blackpool was also loaded but no launch was necessary.

“HM Coastguard Fleetwood was also responsible for both incidents.”
