Emergency services tackle the Rutland Street fire


Fire and rescue services were called in to burn down a house in Grimsby this evening.

This happened around 5:30 p.m., right at the junction of Oxford Street and Rutland Street.

A woman was taken off the property with smoke inhalation issues as a result of the fire.

A live witness at the scene said: “Three fire trucks from the Peaks Lane fire station have arrived.

At least seven firefighters were at the scene on Rutland Street

“The firefighters entered the building with breathing apparatus, they took a lady out.

“The woman was coughing quite hard.

Woman reportedly suffered from smoke inhalation

“There was smoke coming out of the bedroom windows, but when I got there it looked like most of the fire had been put out.

“Two firefighters were putting their gear away. There was a large crowd to see what had happened.”

“Oxford Street was closed for a short time while firefighters dealt with the incident.”

The Humberside Fire and Rescue Service has been approached for comment regarding the incident.
