Person hit by train near Glasgow as emergency services rush to the scene



A person was struck by a train on one of Glasgow’s busiest lines.

Scotrail announced that a person was struck between Paisley Gilmour Street in Renfrewshire and Glasgow Central on Friday morning

The exact time of the incident was not disclosed, but Scotrail first informed social media subscribers of the tragic news at 6:22 a.m.

Help was called to the scene.

In order for the crews to deal with the incident, all lines were closed, although the circumstances surrounding the incident are not yet known.

A Scotrail spokesperson said: “Unfortunately we have had reports that someone was struck by a train between Paisley Gilmour Street and Glasgow Central.

“We had to shut down all lines while we were supporting the emergency services.

“I’ll keep you posted as soon as possible.”

Passengers traveling on this line could use their train ticket on the local McGills bus line; the number 17.

This bus line connects Glasgow to Paisley via Cardonald.

The last statement read: “We have made arrangements to have your train tickets accepted on the local McGills bus route.

“17: Glasgow – Cardonald – Paisley.”
