Ryder Partners With Self-Driving Freight Network Startup

Embark plans to establish a network of strategically located transfer points as part of the partnership, where freight will be moved from driverless long-haul trucks to chauffeured trucks for the first and last mile. Ryder plans to serve as the transfer point operator, manage logistics operations throughout the jobsite, perform pre and post trip inspections, and provide maintenance services for vehicles as well as stand-alone equipment.
