Woman’s body found on Scottish beach as emergency services rush to scene


A woman’s body has been found on a Scottish beach, prompting an emergency response.

Mercy teams rushed to Monifieth beach in Dundee after the discovery around 10am on Friday morning.

Police, paramedics and coastguards were called to the scene.

The emergency has now been confirmed to involve the recovery of a body from the beach.

Officers cordoned off the area after the discovery.

An eyewitness said: “Significant police and coastguard presence in Monifieth Beach at the moment.

“The path and the beach are closed.”

Another said: “There were a lot of sirens this morning. At least two ambulances came down that way.”

A third confirmed: “The body of a lady has been found.”

The identity of the woman has not yet been released.

A Coastguard spokesperson said: ‘We received a call at 10am on Friday to assist Police Scotland and the Scottish Ambulance Service with an incident at Monifieth Beach.

“It had to do with the recovery of a body from the beach.”
